The Free State Project and Liberty Alliance (FSP/LA) is a political migration movement launched in 2001 by founder Jason Sorens. Its goal is to recruit 20,000 participants to move to a single U.S. state in order to influence local government. In 2003, New Hampshire was chosen as the target state due to its small population, which makes it easier to impact elections and policy. Participants of the FSP/LA sign a pledge to relocate to New Hampshire and support a society based on individual liberty. As of 2022, over 6,000 members have already made the move.

The movement’s goals include reducing the size and influence of government at all levels and encouraging participants to run for local and state office. The FSP/LA also hosts events such as the Porcupine Freedom Festival (PorcFest) and actively assists members from around the country in relocating to New Hampshire.
